CONOCE A BRIANDA FITZ-JAMES STUART @BRIANDAFJSTUART

At Jimmy Lion, we're thrilled to introduce our new drop for Spring 2025: the Brianda x Jimmy Lion Collection. A one-of-a-kind collection created by the talented Madrid-based artist Brianda Fitz-James Stuart, whose creative touch runs through every unisex sock design — both Casual and Athletic — that make it up, blending art and fashion in the most original way.

Keep reading to discover more about her sources of inspiration, her creative process and, of course, her vision behind creating this one-of-a-kind collection.

Themes like beauty, nature and transformation appear again and again in your artistic work. How have you woven these elements into this collection? What other themes inspire you?

My main source of inspiration is nature — there's nothing more beautiful or perfect. I'm fascinated by medieval paintings, the Renaissance and decorative arts, among other things. Color is my obsession and craft objects are my passion. I love working with my hands, I really enjoy painting, and I like to imagine that I'm pouring that good energy into my paintings. For the Jimmy Lion designs, I drew inspiration from medieval paintings, the Italian Renaissance and the tigers of Jaipur.

On your Instagram profile, you quote the multifaceted William Morris, who believed that beauty and utility are inseparably linked. In fact, in his 1880 lecture, The Beauty of Life, he said: “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.” How have you carried this philosophy, rooted in beauty and utility, into an accessory like socks?

A nice pair of socks that go well together is the essential finishing touch to feel good and move forward with confidence.

You've worked with a wide variety of materials. Is there one you feel most comfortable with or connected to, or do you enjoy the versatility of working across different materials and techniques?

The material I'm most familiar with is acrylic paint on paper. I've always loved painting on different surfaces — fabric, furniture, ceramics. Painting on a large scale, even though it's intimidating, is something I find really appealing — I think it's important to step out of your comfort zone to grow as an artist.

What have you enjoyed most about working on this collection, and how did you choose the designs that ultimately made it in? Was there anything specific you wanted this collection to capture or convey?

Honestly, I've been a huge fan of the brand for a long time — practically all my socks are Jimmy Lion, so this collaboration means a lot to me. My intention is always to convey good energy. Beautiful objects bring so much happiness, and that's my greatest aspiration.

You often draw inspiration from mythology. Is there a particular goddess, mythological figure, symbolism or story that inspires you? How does it influence your creations and designs?

I love painting women in general — they're invented goddesses that come from my subconscious. I like creating my own symbolism for things.

And finally… coffee or tea?

I've always been a tea person, but lately I've been drinking the occasional emergency coffee.

Thank you socks much!
